Nicole Shanahan, former running mate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during his independent presidential bid, has issued a stark warning to U.S. senators regarding Kennedy’s nomination as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).

In a video posted on social media, Shanahan declared her intent to financially back primary challengers against any senator who would vote against Kennedy’s confirmation.

"While Bobby may be willing to play nice, I won’t if you vote against him. I will personally fund challengers to primary you in your next election, and I will enlist hundreds of thousands to join me," Shanahan said in the video posted on Tuesday.

Shanahan specifically mentioned Democratic Senators Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Jon Ossoff of Georgia (D-GA), noting her previous financial contributions to their campaigns. She also called out Republican Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), emphasizing her bipartisan approach to this ultimatum.

The 39-year-old philanthropist message urged constituents to contact their senators to advocate for Kennedy’s confirmation.

Shanahan, 39, is a philanthropist and attorney, widely recognized for her previous marriage to Google co-founder Sergey Brin. Following their divorce in 2022, she founded a patent management firm and has been active in various philanthropic endeavors. In 2024, Shanahan joined RFK Jr. as his vice-presidential candidate during his independent run for the presidency, before stepping down and supporting President Donald Trump's campaign.

RFK Jr.’s nomination for HHS Secretary has been met with controversy, mainly due to his stance on vaccines. During his recent Senate confirmation hearings, Kennedy Jr. defended his long-standing advocacy for medical freedom and vaccine safety, emphasizing the importance of transparency and informed consent in public health policy.

While some senators raised questions about his past statements on vaccines, he reiterated his commitment to ensuring that health policies are guided by independent science and individual rights.

The Senate Finance Committee is scheduled to vote on Kennedy’s nomination on Tuesday.
