MrBeast is sounding the alarm over gaps in the U.S. healthcare system that stop amputees from receiving a prosthetic leg.

In his latest philanthropic effort, the most-subscribed YouTuber helped 2,000 amputees walk again by providing them with prosthetic legs. While the heartwarming video posted on Saturday already has 37 million views, MrBeast admitted that making the video didn't "sit right with me."

"The fact some of these people had insurance and were denied. Some of these people had insurance but didn't have the right coverage, it just doesn't sit right with me," the content creator, real name Jimmy Donaldson, said at the end of his video.

"Their only hope right now of getting a prosthetic leg so they can walk again, they can go and get a job, is for a YouTuber to step in and help them, which is absurd."

In a follow-up post on X, the 26-year-old influencer said he found it "so disgusting" that in a wealthy country like the U.S., many amputees still live without prosthetics.

"We need to fix this," he added.

Over 2.3 million Americans are living with limb loss, a number expected to hit 3.6 million by 2050, data from the Amputee Coalition shows. About 465,000 amputation cases occur every year, mostly due to complications from diabetes, vascular disease, or trauma.

Despite the life-changing benefits of prosthetic limbs, thousands of amputees in the United States struggle to afford them. Prosthetic legs can cost anywhere from $5,000 for a basic model to over $70,000 for advanced robotic versions. However, many insurance providers categorize these devices as non-essential, leaving patients to shoulder much of the expense out of pocket.

MrBeast’s recent video has sparked an important national conversation. Advocates hope this will lead to lasting policy changes that prioritize accessibility and equity in healthcare.
