Donald Trump is back in the White House. After a four-year break, the 45th president of the United States of America returns as the 47th head of state. But what does this mean for the nation? Specifically, what does this mean for US health care?

Trump defeats Harris, now what?

It has been an eventful past few months for the business tycoon-turned-politician. From facing lawsuits to assassination attempts, Trump braved them all and has come out victorious. Now that he'll be back in office, voters are looking forward to him fulfilling his promises during the campaign. These include sweeping tariffs, stricter immigration policies, and revamping the health care system—the latter, being much-needed for years, ever since Obamacare was put in place.

"As President Trump has said, he will make our health care system better by increasing transparency, promoting choice and competition, and expanding access to new affordable health care and insurance options," Karoline Leavitt, Trump campaign national press secretary, told ABC News in October.

Trump taps RFK Jr. to lead health care policy

In an interview with Chris Cuomo on NewsNation last week, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed that president-elect Trump has asked him to "reorganize" the federal health agencies should he return to office.

These include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as some agencies under the Department of Agriculture.

"He's asked me to clean up the corruption, number one; number two, end the conflicts of interest; [and] return those agencies to their rich tradition of gold standard, empirically-based, evidence-based science; evidence-based medicine; and to end the chronic disease in this country," he shared.

In an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday, he hinted at clearing "entire departments" in the FDA if needed, adding "they're not protecting our kids."

Kennedy Jr. ran as an independent candidate before pulling out of the presidential race and backing Trump.

The son of Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy, RFK Jr. has been a staunch advocate for health care and the environment.

He leads the Make America Healthy Again movement which draws inspiration from Trump's famous campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again."

Kennedy Jr. has fought against Big Tech, Big Pharma, and Big Food corporations, to make sure Americans are kept healthy, safe, and free from information censorship and manipulation.

With a position in the government, supporters expect the TIME "Hero of the Planet" awardee to start implementing effective solutions to America's biggest health problems.

"I think he's a good man...and he believes [in] the environment, the healthy people. He wants healthy people, he wants healthy food. And he's going to do it," Trump said of Kennedy Jr. at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner.

Aside from Kennedy Jr., other Republican leaders are already showing support for Trump's health care plans. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) confirmed that he is “ready and willing” to accept a role in the agriculture department under the new administration, should he be offered a position.

"President Trump’s resounding victory secured a mandate for big ideas like reversing chronic disease, conserving our land, and empowering American farmers...I stand ready and willing to help the President with any part of his bold agenda to focus on the health and well-being of Americans," Massie said in a statement on X
