A new book by Dr. Michal Aziz, the bestselling author of “The Perfect 10 Diet” was just released. His new book is called “The Ageless Revolution.”

Dr. Aziz's new book is the first book on the market that treats aging as a disease that can be slowed down or even reversed. The book is very comprehensive as it targets all the hallmarks of aging that cause our cells to deteriorate, and eventually die. The book hit the number one spot in longevity on Amazon upon release and has also been picked internationally to be translated into several foreign languages. It is a new concept in medicine to target biological aging. The hallmarks of aging were first proposed in 2013 by Lopez-Otin et al. and have since been refined and expanded.

Current Hallmarks of Aging:

  • Genomic Instability: Accumulation of DNA mutations and damage. This happens as DNA gets damaged over time. This increases our risk for cancer as we get older.

  • Telomere Attrition: Shortening of protective caps at the ends of chromosomes. Shortened telomeres mean shorter lives.

  • Epigenetic Alterations: Changes in gene expression patterns without changes in the DNA sequence. These are the bad things we do like smoking or eating processed food, they alter the interpretation of the genome.

  • Loss of Proteostasis: Failure to properly fold, assemble, and degrade proteins. This means that the proteins in our cells are not of good quality. This leads to the other healthy cells to overwork and aging happens.

  • Deregulated Nutrient Sensing: Dysfunctional response to nutrient availability. This means the cells do not respond to the nutrients.

  • Mitochondrial Dysfunction: Decline in the function of energy-producing organelles. Mitochondria are the batteries of our cells and need to be charged for our cells to work efficiently.

  • Cellular Senescence: Permanent growth arrest of cells. This means the old cells stop working and aging happens.

  • Stem Cell Exhaustion: Depletion of regenerative cells or stem cells. Stem cells are baby cells that can become any cells you want them to be. As we get old, they get depleted, and there is no more regeneration. Eventually, death happens.

  • Altered Intercellular Communication: Disruptions in cell-to-cell signaling. This means the cells can't talk to each other and this leads to age-related diseases to occur.

“The Ageless Revolution”

Dr. Michael Aziz's new book is the first to treat aging as a disease.

Dr. Aziz was motivated by the topic of anti-aging as he gained 30 pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic. He became prediabetic. He turned his health around as he shed the weight. Motivated by the high mortality rate of COVID-19  in the US, the idea to write The Ageless Revolution was born. The book discusses the hallmarks of aging in an easy manner as he dives deeper into a clean diet, supplements, and medications that target all the hallmarks.

Dr Aziz said, "We have the lowest lifespan in the Western world in the U.S., we are leaving 14 years on the table. That's not right."
